## SiteGround Review: Plans, Pricing, and Is It Worth It?

**Managed hosting built on Google Cloud Platform infrastructure.**

SiteGround sells shared, WordPress, WooCommerce, cloud, and reseller hosting starting at $3.99 a month.

It’s one of the few mainstream hosts that runs its infrastructure directly on Google Cloud Platform, rather than its own private data centers or a generic public cloud.

That Google Cloud foundation is SiteGround’s real differentiator, and it shows up in the price. Shared plans renew well above their introductory rate, a tradeoff worth understanding before you buy.

## **Is SiteGround Worth It? The Quick Answer**

**Worth considering if you want Google Cloud infrastructure, a polished custom control panel, and don’t mind a higher renewal price.**

SiteGround offers shared hosting, managed WordPress and WooCommerce hosting, cloud hosting, and reseller hosting, all built on the same Google Cloud Platform foundation.

Its shared plans, StartUp, GrowBig, and GoGeek, are priced from $3.99, $6.69, and $10.69 a month on the 12-month introductory term.

Those renew at $17.99, $29.99, and $44.99 a month, confirmed on SiteGround’s own live pricing page on August 26, 2026.

It’s rated 4.9 out of 5 (“Excellent) on Trustpilot, shown directly on SiteGround’s own homepage, which also states it’s “trusted by the owners of 3 million domains.**The one thing to check before you buy:** the discounted first-year price runs roughly 4 to 4.5 times lower than the renewal rate on every shared plan.

GrowBig renews at $29.99 a month against a $6.69 intro rate, a 4.5x jump once the first 12 months end.

Shared hosting also has no way to lock in the low rate longer. SiteGround’s plan cards show only a 12-month prepay term.

Monthly billing is limited to Cloud and Dedicated Server accounts, per its own knowledge base.

**Who should look elsewhere:** anyone who wants the lowest possible price after year one, or a plan that includes a free domain registration, since SiteGround doesn’t include one.

## About SiteGround

SiteGround was founded in 2004 and has stayed privately owned since, per its own company page, which states it operates “without external shareholders demanding short-term returns. The company describes itself as “a Group of companies registered in the USA, UK, Spain, Cyprus, and Bulgaria, rather than naming a single headquarters city on that page.

Its infrastructure runs on Google Cloud Platform, described on its own site as “proprietary speed and security technologylayered on top.

SiteGround completed this migration in 2020,[per an official announcement at the time](https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20200218005675/en/SiteGround-Moves-Google-Cloud-Platform).

For a reader comparing hosts today, that combination, private ownership plus a major cloud provider’s infrastructure, is unusual. Most budget shared hosts run their own data centers instead.

## Pricing & Plans

**Understanding the Real Cost**

SiteGround sells shared hosting in three tiers, StartUp, GrowBig, and GoGeek, each on a 12-month introductory term that renews at a higher standard rate.

Every plan includes free SSL, CDN, and daily backups, free email, free AI tokens, multilevel caching, and the SiteGround Website Builder.

GrowBig and GoGeek add on-demand backups, a claimed 30% faster PHP configuration, and staging environments. GoGeek adds Git integration, a private DNS, white-label access, and priority support.

Beyond shared hosting, SiteGround sells Cloud Hosting from $100 to $400 a month across four tiers, scaling from 4 to 16 CPU cores.

Every cloud tier (Jump Start, Business, Business Plus, Super Power) includes 5TB of monthly data transfer.

**Refund policy:** 30 days from activation on shared hosting, 14 days on cloud hosting, per SiteGround’s own policy. Domain fees aren’t refundable, even if waived as part of a promotion.

## Infrastructure

SiteGround’s hosting runs on Google Cloud Platform, a migration it completed in 2020 and still describes on its own site as its current infrastructure foundation.

On top of that, SiteGround layers its own caching, security, and CDN technology, rather than reselling Google Cloud unmodified.

Its own control panel, Site Tools, replaced cPanel across SiteGround’s plans years ago and remains the interface for every current plan, not a legacy cPanel license.

SiteGround operates data centers across the US, UK, Spain, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Australia, and Singapore, letting a buyer pick a region close to their audience.

On speed, SiteGround’s own pages cite multilevel caching, NVMe-backed Google storage, and a “30% faster PHPclaim on GrowBig and GoGeek.

These are the provider’s own stated specs, not figures independently tested for this review.

## Support & Usability

### **Do you need technical skills for SiteGround?**

Not for the shared and WordPress plans, which are built around Site Tools’ guided interface.

Developers get WP-CLI, SSH, and Git access (GoGeek), so SiteGround doesn’t require technical skill, but it doesn’t lock advanced users out either.

### **Support channels**

SiteGround advertises 24/7 support through live chat and tickets, per its own site.

Its own homepage and third-party review platforms frequently mention support responsiveness as a strength, though those are the provider’s own selected excerpts rather than an independent survey.

## **Frequently Asked Questions**

### Does SiteGround use cPanel?

No. SiteGround replaced cPanel with its own proprietary control panel, Site Tools, across all of its current hosting plans.

### Why does SiteGround cost more at renewal?

SiteGround’s shared plans carry a 12-month introductory discount. StartUp renews at $17.99 a month against a $3.99 intro rate, a 4.5x jump once that term ends.

### Does SiteGround offer free site migration?

Yes, free site migrations are listed under every plan’s WordPress services, per SiteGround’s own pricing page.

### Where are SiteGround’s data centers located?

SiteGround lists data centers in four US cities plus London, Madrid, the Netherlands, Frankfurt, Paris, Sydney, and Singapore, per its own knowledge base.

### Does SiteGround include a free domain name?

No. SiteGround doesn’t list a free domain on any current plan, and its refund policy explicitly states domain fees aren’t refundable even when waived promotionally.

### Does SiteGround limit monthly website visitors?

No explicit visitor cap. SiteGround’s current plans list “unlimited trafficrather than a specific number.
A very high-traffic site can still hit shared-resource limits before a literal visitor count. Check the current plan comparison for exact allowances.

### Does SiteGround offer a monthly billing option?

Not for shared hosting. SiteGround’s shared plans require a 12-month prepay, per its own plan pages.
Monthly billing exists for Cloud and Dedicated Server accounts only, per SiteGround’s own knowledge base.

### Does SiteGround guarantee 99.9% uptime?

Not as a formal SLA. SiteGround references “99.9% uptimein its own marketing copy, but its site doesn’t publish a dedicated uptime guarantee with contractual terms or remedies.

### Is SiteGround good for WordPress specifically?

Yes. Every plan includes managed autoupdates, WP-CLI and SSH access, and a free AI Agent for WordPress, on top of a dedicated Hosting for WordPress product line.

### What is SiteGround’s customer rating?

SiteGround’s own homepage displays 4.9 out of 5 (“Excellent) on Trustpilot. That’s the provider’s own reported figure, not an independently fetched aggregator check.

## Our Verdict

Based on SiteGround’s own published pages and its infrastructure history, SiteGround is worth considering if:

- You specifically want Google Cloud infrastructure rather than a host’s own private data centers
- You’re comfortable paying a renewal price roughly 4 to 4.5 times the introductory rate
- You want a polished, proprietary control panel over the more common cPanel interface
