Hostinger Review 2026: What Actually Happened When We Used It
We purchased a Hostinger plan on December 3, 2024. We have owned it for 18 months, and we currently run eight live websites on that account.
For this review, we built a dedicated test site, hostingguider.online, on the same account and tested it independently.
Locally, the results were close to perfect. From a distance, they weren’t. Our test page returned a first response in 229ms from São Paulo and 1,692ms from Sydney, on the same server, on the same account, during the same testing session.

The account we’ve owned since December 2024, Business Web Hosting, isn’t sold under that name anymore.
Business is the real successor, not just on naming: object cache, the staging tool, daily and on-demand backups, and the free CDN, the features that separate our account from a basic entry plan, are exactly the set that starts at Business and isn’t available on Premium.
Where the two don’t line up is scale: our account carries 200GB of storage and a 60-PHP-worker allowance, both higher than what Business currently ships with (50GB, no published worker count).
That gap is consistent with 18 months of an older plan generation rather than evidence we’re actually sitting on Cloud Startup; Cloud Startup’s defining features, a dedicated IP and priority support, aren’t present on our account.
We can show real renewal numbers because we own two separate accounts:

Most budget hosts run some version of a promotional-to-renewal increase. Having two live accounts means we can give you the actual figures instead of a general warning.
Refunds run 30 days from the purchase date, per Hostinger’s stated policy. Domain renewals are excluded from that window.

Is Hostinger Good?
Yes, for a first website, a blog, a portfolio, a small business site, or a WordPress install run by someone who doesn’t want to manage a server.
Also reasonable for a small store using Hostinger’s built-in ecommerce tools.
No, if you need root-level server access, HIPAA-compliant hosting, a dedicated single-tenant server, or infrastructure built for sustained heavy traffic.
None of Hostinger’s shared plans, including the one we tested, provide any of those.
The recommendation depends on your visitors’ location. If most of them are in the Americas, Western Europe, or East Asia, the results below are a reasonable preview of what they’ll experience.
If they’re concentrated in South Asia, or in Montreal, Cape Town, or the UAE specifically, our testing showed meaningfully slower response times, and that changes the calculation.
Our Account and How We Tested It
The account was purchased on December 3, 2024, and has been active for 18 months, currently running eight live websites.
For this review, we built a ninth site, hostingguider.online, specifically to run controlled tests against.

We used GTmetrix and Google PageSpeed Insights for local page speed, Debugbear for response time from ten cities, Grafana k6 for a wider check from twenty-two locations, UptimeRobot for a month of continuous uptime monitoring, SSL Labs for TLS configuration, Hostinger’s built-in scanner for a vulnerability check, and the Green Web Foundation for a renewable-energy verification.
We also separately own a second Hostinger plan, Cloud Startup, on a different server. It’s referenced several times below, since owning two accounts let us check things a single-account review can’t, including a real renewal-price comparison and an HTTP/3 comparison.
Local Performance
Local here means one specific thing: how the page performs for a visitor close to our server, before we test what happens to visitors further away.
GTmetrix graded the page an A overall, with a 100% Performance score and a 93% Structure score:
- Largest Contentful Paint: 442ms
- Total Blocking Time: 0ms
- Cumulative Layout Shift: 0
- First Contentful Paint: 301ms
- Time to Interactive: 301ms
- Speed Index: 444ms

The full report also breaks down what happens before any of that: a 0ms redirect, a 153ms connection, a 38ms backend response, and a Time to First Byte of 191ms from GTmetrix’s test location.
From there the page reached DOM Interactive at 237ms, DOM Content Loaded at 298ms, and Fully Loaded at 484ms.
A few of the headline numbers need unpacking. Structure is a separate score from Performance; it grades how well-built the underlying code is, not how fast the server responds.
Largest Contentful Paint marks the moment the biggest visible element finishes loading, not the moment the whole page is done.
Total Blocking Time measures how long the browser’s main thread was blocked from responding to user input while the page loaded, which is a browser-side measurement, not a record of how long the page waited on the server.
We also ran the same page through Google’s PageSpeed Insights, which scores desktop and mobile separately instead of giving one combined number.
On desktop, it scored 99 for Performance, 100 for Accessibility, 100 for Best Practices, and 92 for SEO. The underlying metrics: First Contentful Paint 0.5s, Largest Contentful Paint 0.6s, Total Blocking Time 0ms, Cumulative Layout Shift 0, Speed Index 1.3s.

On mobile, Performance also scored 99, with the same 100/100/92 split on Accessibility, Best Practices, and SEO.
The metrics behind that score tell a different story than the number alone suggests:
First Contentful Paint 1.0s, Largest Contentful Paint 1.6s, Speed Index 3.0s, while Total Blocking Time stayed at 0ms and Cumulative Layout Shift stayed at 0.
PageSpeed’s mobile test simulates a slower phone processor and a throttled network connection on purpose, which is why every loading metric roughly doubled or tripled from desktop even though the final score barely moved.
That’s the more realistic test for anyone browsing on a phone over mobile data, and the page held up under it.

Taken together, these numbers describe one thing well: how the page performs for a visitor near the server.
A strong score from a nearby test location doesn’t establish how the page performs globally, which is what the next two tests were built to check.
Performance by Visitor Location
We measured Time to First Byte, the delay before the server sends the first byte of a response, from ten cities using Debugbear.
TTFB is not the same as total page load time; it measures server and network response time specifically, before the browser starts rendering anything.

São Paulo’s 229ms is the fastest result and Sydney’s 1,692ms is the slowest, roughly 7.4 times higher.
The pattern isn’t a simple “close to the US server is fast, far is slow” story either: Bangalore, at 755ms, actually beat Tokyo, Dubai, and Sydney, all of which are also far from our server.
Distance from the data center is part of what’s happening here, but it isn’t the whole explanation, network routing and peering between specific regions matters too, and it doesn’t move in a straight line with geographic distance.
Wider Geographic Check
We ran a second test from twenty-two locations using Grafana k6, measuring full round-trip response time rather than just the first byte.
Round-trip time includes more of the network path than TTFB alone, so the two numbers aren’t directly comparable, but the pattern across both tests is consistent. Reachability was 100% from all 22 locations.

This test flags three more regions the ten-city test didn’t cover: Montreal, Cape Town, and the UAE all crossed a full second of round-trip time, with Cape Town reaching as high as 1.68 seconds.
Neither test proves Hostinger is fast or slow as a general property. Both show that response time on this account depends heavily on where the visitor is relative to the server.
If your audience overlaps with the fast columns above, that’s meaningful evidence. If it overlaps with the slow ones, it’s evidence in the other direction.
Security and Reliability
We checked our site’s encryption setup with SSL Labs (run by Qualys) across four connections:
- IPv4 connection 1: A
- IPv4 connection 2: A
- IPv6 connection 1: A
- IPv6 connection 2: A

The four connections are the different paths a visitor’s browser might use to reach the server, so an A across all four means the encryption is set up correctly on every path, not just one. SSL Labs evaluates TLS configuration specifically, how correctly the encryption is set up, not the security of the website’s code or infrastructure as a whole.
Our certificate had approximately 12.7 weeks remaining at the time of testing and renews automatically.
Hostinger’s built-in scanner found no vulnerabilities on our live WordPress installation.

That’s Hostinger checking its own infrastructure, and you can run the same check yourself from hPanel any time. It’s a quick sanity check, not a full security audit, so don’t skip your own plugin and password hygiene because it came back clean.

That’s a clean month, not a guarantee. If uptime matters to your project, keep watching it past the first month instead of assuming it’ll always look this good.
We checked with the Green Web Foundation, an independent nonprofit, and our hosting is verified as backed by renewable energy.

Hostinger had a data breach in 2019, affecting approximately 14 million accounts, five years before we purchased our plan.
Hostinger has published its own account of the changes made afterward.
We have no way to independently verify every claim in that account; our direct, current evidence is limited to the SSL Labs and vulnerability scan results above, which don’t speak to what happened in 2019 or to Hostinger’s broader security posture today.
Does It Support HTTP/3?
HTTP/3 and QUIC are newer connection protocols that speed up how a browser connects to the server, especially on unstable networks. We ran hostingguider.online through http3check.net, and it came back confirmed: QUIC supported, HTTP/3 supported, with a connection established on every attempt.

Our separate Cloud Startup account, on a different server, checks out the same way.
Resources, and When Shared Hosting Stops Being Enough
Eight sites, mostly blogs and small business pages, haven’t strained the account’s resources. A small store using Hostinger’s built-in ecommerce tools should run comfortably too.
Sustained, heavy traffic is a different situation, and this isn’t specific to Hostinger. Every shared hosting plan, on every provider, has a finite resource ceiling.
Sixty PHP workers is a real, fixed number, not a marketing figure, and once a site’s concurrent request volume regularly approaches that limit, requests start queuing and response times degrade.
We haven’t tested that threshold directly since our own sites haven’t reached it, so we can’t give you a specific traffic number where it happens; what we can tell you is that the ceiling exists and that Hostinger sells Cloud Hosting and VPS tiers built for sites that outgrow it.
Shared hosting at any tier also doesn’t include root server access, dedicated single-tenant hardware, or HIPAA-compliant configuration, so those requirements mean looking outside the shared hosting product line entirely, not upgrading within it.
Support & Usability
hPanel handles WordPress installation, backup restoration, and database management from a single dashboard.
After 18 months managing eight sites through it, none of that has become harder to use.
There’s an AI assistant, Kodee, built into the panel for setup and troubleshooting questions; we haven’t relied on it for anything in this review, but it’s available before a support ticket becomes necessary.
Support is 24/7 live chat and email tickets. There’s no phone line. In 18 months we haven’t had a problem serious enough to require escalation, so we can’t tell you how a difficult case is handled, only that we haven’t encountered one.
hPanel doesn’t require terminal access or server administration knowledge for standard tasks. It’s also a proprietary panel, not cPanel, and its simplicity is a limitation for anyone who wants root-level configuration access.
That level of control is a VPS product, sold separately from the shared plans covered here.

Choose it if you’re setting up a first website, your visitors are mostly in the Americas, Western Europe, or East Asia, you want WordPress running without configuring a server, or you’re running a blog, portfolio, or small business site where hPanel’s simplicity is useful rather than limiting.
Look elsewhere if a meaningful share of your traffic comes from South Asia, or from Montreal, Cape Town, or the UAE specifically, based on the regional results above.
Also look elsewhere if phone support is a requirement, if you’re running a store with sustained heavy traffic, or if you need root server access, dedicated hardware, or HIPAA compliance.
Our Verdict
We’d buy this account again for what we actually use it for: eight sites, 18 months, no support issue serious enough to test the limits of chat-only help, and page speed that’s genuinely strong for the regions we measured it from.
That recommendation is conditional on the evidence above, not despite it. It holds for a first website with an audience in the Americas, Western Europe, or East Asia.
It weakens as that audience shifts toward the regions our testing flagged as slower. It stops applying once the requirement is root access, dedicated hardware, HIPAA compliance, or infrastructure built for sustained heavy load, none of which this plan, or any Hostinger shared plan, is built to provide.
