Hostinger is the cheapest web hosting over four years. Premium costs $143.52 for 48 months and covers three sites.

We ran a Hostinger account for 18 months before reviewing it, so that price comes with real use behind it.

If you won’t prepay four years, Namecheap Stellar is the cheapest pay-yearly option. It totals $195 over four years, billed one year at a time.

A banner price says little on its own, because most of them jump at renewal.

So we added up every plan’s four-year bill, renewals included, then divided it by the sites it allows.

The cheapest web hosting at a glance

  1. Hostinger: lowest four-year total
  2. Namecheap: cheapest without a multi-year prepay
  3. Bluehost: lowest cost per site
  4. HostArmada: cheapest for three years on one site
  5. UltaHost: a price that holds for four years
  6. InterServer: cheapest if you want to pay monthly
  7. Namecheap EasyWP: cheapest managed WordPress

Each total follows the cheapest published path to exactly 48 months. HostArmada and Bluehost add a one-year renewal in year four, and UltaHost’s assumes its stated renewal holds.

Every figure comes from the provider’s own pricing and renewal pages, read September 25 to 28, 2026.

Promo rates change without notice, so confirm Hostinger’s 48-month rate and Namecheap’s yearly Stellar price on the day you pay.

How we ranked cheap web hosting

We ranked by the total you pay, not the price on the banner.

A $1.99 plan that renews at $9.95 can cost more than a $2.99 plan fixed for four years.

  • Four-year total. First term plus renewals, on the cheapest published path.
  • Cost per site. A plan that covers 10 sites can beat one that looks cheaper overall.
  • What’s included. Backups, SSL, email, and a free domain change the real price.
  • Refund terms. A cheap plan you can’t cancel isn’t cheap if it fails you.
  • Our own bills. We pay for Hostinger and Namecheap accounts and used their results.

New to plans, terms, and renewals? A plain-language guide to hosting plans, terms, and renewals explains each term before you compare totals.

1. Hostinger: lowest four-year total

Best for: anyone who can pay four years upfront and wants the smallest total bill.

Skip it if: a 48-month prepay is more cash than you want to commit today.

Hostinger
Hostinger

One 48-month Premium term is $143.52 upfront, which is $2.99 a month. The price includes three sites, weekly backups, a CDN, and a domain for year one.

Spread over four years, that’s about $36 a year, or $47.84 per site if you use all three.

Our own invoice was lower still: a discount cut four years of Hostinger Business to $113.28.

On that account, the $113.28 Hostinger plan we still use logged 100% uptime over 30 days.

Limitation: the low rate requires the full prepay, and Premium renews at $10.99 a month after 48 months. The 30-day refund may deduct the free domain’s value.

2. Namecheap: cheapest without a multi-year prepay

Best for: people who’d rather pay one year at a time and keep renewals low.

Skip it if: you want daily backups, or your visitors are far from Namecheap’s shared data centers.

Namecheap
Namecheap

Stellar costs $2.28 a month billed yearly after a 30-day free trial, so $27.36 for year one. It then renews at $55.88 a year, about $4.66 a month.

That renewal undercuts Hostinger’s, Bluehost’s, and HostArmada’s. By year five, Namecheap’s running total drops below Hostinger’s: about $251 against $275.

Stellar allows three sites and 30 mailboxes, so each site costs about $65 over four years.

On the Stellar Plus account we pay for, PageSpeed scored 99 on desktop and mobile.

Limitation: Namecheap’s 30-day money-back applies only if you skip the free trial. Backups run weekly.

The renewal gap is why Hostinger and Namecheap swap places after year four.

3. Bluehost: lowest cost per site

Best for: someone running several small sites, such as a portfolio, a hobby blog, and a family site.

Skip it if: you only need one site, because single-site plans here cost less in total.

Bluehost
Bluehost

Bluehost Starter covers 10 websites. At $287.52 over four years, that works out to about $28.75 per site, the lowest per-site cost on this list.

The first 36 months cost $3.99 a month on Bluehost’s pricing page. A one-year renewal then costs $11.99 a month, or $9.99 if you commit to another 36 months.

Limitation: all 10 sites share 10 GB of storage, backups are weekly, and Starter has no phone support. The 30-day refund excludes monthly terms.

We haven’t bought Bluehost, so the Bluehost per-site math rests on its published prices.

4. HostArmada: cheapest for three years on one site

Best for: one site where you want the lowest three-year bill and published server resources.

Skip it if: you plan to keep the site at one host well past three years.

HostArmada
HostArmada

Start Dock costs $1.99 a month on a 36-month term, $71.64 in total. No plan here costs less for three years.

For that, you get 2 CPU cores, 2 GB of RAM, 7 daily backups, and 24/7 phone support. Shared plans also carry a 45-day money-back window.

Limitation: Start Dock renews at $9.95 a month and covers one site, so year four alone costs $119.40. Monthly billing isn’t covered by the refund.

Our figures for the HostArmada Start Dock renewal jump come from its published pricing, not an account of our own.

5. UltaHost: a price that holds for four years

Best for: one site where you want the same monthly price for four years, with daily backups.

Skip it if: a refund option matters to you, because the fine print excludes most discounted plans.

Ultahost
Ultahost

UltaHost Starter costs $3.44 a month on a 24-month term, and the plan page shows the same rate for the next two years.

That’s $165.12 over four years if the renewal holds.

Daily backups, cPanel, and unmetered bandwidth are included, and UltaHost lists 31 data center locations.

Limitation: the refund policy excludes 24-month and 36-month plans and plans bought with a discount. Starter covers one domain, with a free domain transfer but no free registration.

UltaHost is another plan we haven’t bought. The UltaHost refund and renewal terms come from its official pages.

6. InterServer: cheapest if you want to pay monthly

Best for: people who want to pay month to month, or who hate surprise renewals.

Skip it if: you want the lowest total over the first few years.

InterServer
InterServer

InterServer Standard costs $2.50 a month for the first term, whatever length you choose, then $7 a month. On 24-month terms, four years cost $228.

It lists unlimited storage, unlimited email accounts, weekly backups, and a free Cloudflare CDN, with the DirectAdmin control panel.

Limitation: the steady $7 is more than the prepay deals charge in early years, and InterServer doesn’t state how many sites Standard allows.

A flat renewal is the trade-off when InterServer and Hostinger go head to head.

The InterServer $7 renewal on any term is what makes month-to-month billing painless here.

7. Namecheap EasyWP: cheapest managed WordPress

Best for: one small WordPress site where you want the host to run the server.

Skip it if: you run several sites or work over SSH.

Namecheap EasyWP
Namecheap EasyWP

Namecheap bills EasyWP Starter at $3.24 a month for the first year and $5.74 after that. Four years come to $245.52, with daily backups kept up to 14 days.

Limitation: one site per subscription, no cPanel or SSH, and 50 emails a day through PHP mail.

Hidden costs of cheap web hosting

The intro price is rarely the full bill. These extra costs appear in official terms.

  • Domain renewal. The free domain lasts one year. A .com at Namecheap renews at $18.48 a year after that.
  • Free domain on refund. Hostinger and Bluehost may deduct the free domain’s value if you cancel. HostGator charges $17.99 if you cancel a free-domain plan in year one.
  • Email after the trial. Bluehost’s Pro Email turns into a $2.99 monthly charge after 30 days. Hostinger’s mailboxes stay free for the first year.
  • Backup restores. Namecheap restores free while your account is active, but charges $15 if it’s suspended or terminated.
  • Renewal terms. SiteGround StartUp is $2.99 a month in year one, then $14.99 to $17.99, which is why it isn’t on this list.

Renewal traps like these get a fuller walk-through in what hosts don’t say about renewal pricing.

Should you pay monthly or prepay for years?

Prepay only as long as you’re sure you’ll keep the site. The longest term is cheapest per month, but the money is gone if you leave after the refund window.

  • New project you might drop: pay yearly (Namecheap) or monthly (InterServer).
  • Site you’ll run for years: prepay the long term (Hostinger, 48 months).
  • Several small sites: pick the lowest cost per site (Bluehost).

Other cheap hosts we considered

  • HostPapa: Essentials costs $2.95 a month on 36 months, $238.08 over four years with a one-year renewal, and includes phone support. We haven’t tested it yet.
  • IONOS: Essential costs $4 a month in year one, then $8, so $336 over four years, with daily backups and unlimited websites.
  • GoDaddy: Economy’s four-year bill is $359.52 for a single site: $5.99 a month for three years, then $11.99.

Which cheap host should you choose?

Lowest total and you can prepay? Hostinger Premium.

Rather pay one year at a time? Namecheap Stellar.

Five to ten small sites? Bluehost Starter.

One site for about three years? HostArmada Start Dock.

Month to month? InterServer.

One WordPress site, managed? Namecheap EasyWP.

If your budget can cover a four-year prepay, Hostinger’s 48-month Premium plan is the smallest total. If not, Namecheap’s pay-yearly Stellar plan keeps each bill small.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest web hosting?

Over four years, Hostinger Premium at $143.52. Over three years on one site, HostArmada Start Dock at $71.64. On yearly billing, Namecheap Stellar at $27.36 for year one.

Is cheap web hosting reliable?

It can be. We paid $113.28 for four years of Hostinger after a discount, and that plan held 100% uptime across 30 days of monitoring.

Should I buy a multi-year hosting plan?

Only if the site will outlive the term. Hostinger’s 48-month plan gives the lowest total, but a yearly plan like Namecheap’s costs less to walk away from.

Do cheap hosting plans include a free domain?

Many do for the first year, including Hostinger, Bluehost, and IONOS. UltaHost offers a free domain transfer instead. Budget for the domain’s renewal after year one.

Can I upgrade a cheap hosting plan later?

Yes. Every host here sells bigger plans, so you can move up without switching providers. Upgrades cost more at renewal, so recheck the four-year math when you do.

Can I host a website for free?

You can, but free hosts usually restrict your domain, storage, and support. For a few dollars a month, a paid plan adds your own domain and backups.

How do money-back guarantees work on cheap hosting?

You cancel within the window and get the hosting fee back, minus exclusions. Hostinger and Bluehost may deduct the free domain’s value, and Bluehost excludes monthly plans.

How we compared cheap web hosting

Each budget host on this list has a full HostingGuider review. We pulled prices, renewals, and refund rules from each provider’s official pages in the last week of September 2026.

Totals use each plan’s cheapest published path to 48 months. Where a renewal term wasn’t clear, we used the one-year rate and said so.

Our own bills come from Hostinger and Namecheap, with receipts for the accounts we paid for ourselves. Bluehost, HostArmada, UltaHost, InterServer, and EasyWP are untested by us so far.

Commissions didn’t move any plan up or down. The scoring rules we follow for every roundup are public.
