Our Analysis: The overall assessment shows Failed, but the margin is narrow. The INP of 220ms is just 20ms above Google’s 200ms threshold. INP measures how quickly the page responds to a real user click or tap. A 20ms gap is not a server problem. It is a JavaScript execution issue on a very feature-heavy marketing site.
The LCP of 2.3s passes Google’s 2.5s threshold cleanly. This confirms that the main content of the page loads fast enough to meet the ranking standard. The CLS score of 0 is perfect. The page has zero layout shift. Nothing moves or jumps while loading. This is one of the cleanest CLS results we have recorded across all our reviews. The TTFB of 1.1s is global field data averaged across all network types and geographic locations. For users physically close to a Cloudflare edge node, the actual TTFB is far lower, as confirmed by the KeyCDN test below.

This kind of uniformity is only possible with a world-class CDN layer. DigitalOcean’s website runs on Cloudflare’s global network, which has edge nodes in over 300 cities worldwide.

Our Analysis: DigitalOcean scores Grade A across all four servers tested by Qualys SSL Labs. TLS 1.3 is fully supported, which reduces the connection handshake to a single round trip. This means the secure connection is established faster, allowing the server to start sending data sooner.
The grade sits at A rather than A+. The A+ rating requires HSTS (HTTP Strict Transport Security) to be fully enforced with a long max-age and preload directive. This is a configuration choice, not a security weakness. Our Analysis: This is a clear gap in DigitalOcean’s web stack. The HTTP/3 check returned: ‘Server does not advertise any alternative services.’ Neither HTTP/3 nor QUIC is enabled on www.digitalocean.com.
This is notable because DigitalOcean’s website runs on Cloudflare, which supports HTTP/3 natively. Cloudflare enables HTTP/3 by default on its network. The fact that it is not active here suggests it has been deliberately disabled at the Cloudflare configuration level for this domain.
For DigitalOcean customers, this does not affect your own Droplets or apps. You can enable HTTP/3 on your own apps through Cloudflare, Nginx, or Caddy independently. But the absence of HTTP/3 on their own homepage is a missed opportunity. HTTP/3 reduces load time on mobile networks by allowing data streams to continue even when individual packets are lost in transit.

Our Analysis: The LCP of 792ms is exceptional. The largest piece of content on the page renders in under 800ms. This is a direct result of Cloudflare’s edge caching delivering static assets from a nearby node rather than the origin server. The TTFB of 217ms confirms the same. The server responds in well under a quarter of a second.
The Structure score of 92% is strong. It means the page is built cleanly with good code practices. GTmetrix found very few structural issues to flag.
The TBT of 736ms is the weak point. Total Blocking Time measures how long JavaScript execution prevents the page from responding to user input. DigitalOcean’s marketing homepage runs a large number of tracking scripts, analytics tools, and interactive components. These block the main thread during load.
The Fully Loaded Time of 29 seconds sounds alarming but requires context. Modern marketing pages use lazy loading, infinite scroll patterns, and deferred JavaScript that GTmetrix counts as part of the full load. The core content is usable in well under 2 seconds. The 29-second figure represents background scripts and below-fold content loading long after the user can already interact with the page.
